MULTAN: A fire has swallowed up 10 shops in a used goods market of the city on Wednesday.
The fire, which also damaged bank in the vicinity of the market, led people to evacuate the area, with 16 fire trucks engaged in battling the flames and more on the way.
Rescue 1122 District Emergency Officer Dr Kaleemullah said the fire had broken out in a basement and then escalated, spreading onto the ground floor.
He added, “Shopkeepers were not letting the rescue workers perform their duties. We had to take the police’s help in order to control the situation.”
