A case has been registered against a man identified as a worker of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) in Mohmand tribal district for allegedly threatening a security personal with dire consequences after he was asked to remove his motorcycle from a no parking zone.
The report prepared by the political administration identifies the suspect as Mohibullah, and states that he was stopped from parking his motorcycle in front of a local mosque during Friday prayers by a Levy official who cited security concerns. However, he lost his calm and started hurling threats at the Levies official.
After the prayers, Mohibullah and other workers of the party allegedly blocked the road, causing problems for commuters. When security personnel reached the area, the accused managed to flee, the report says.
The case was registered by the Assistant Commissioner, the magistrate under the Interim Governance Regulation, under sections 153, 186, 188 and 189 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Confirming the development, Deputy Commissioner Wasif Saeed said his administration was under no political pressure and it would work in accordance with the law. In the elections held earlier this week, PTI backed Sajid Khan had won from NA-42 Mohmand Agency with 22,717 votes, beating Bilalur Rehman who secured 21,076 votes.
After a suicide attack at a mosque in Ambar tehsil of Mohmand in 2016, which left 28 people dead and 30 others injured, the security forces and administration have put in place stricter measures under which no parking is allowed inside or near the premises of mosques.
The political administration’s report says that the incidence took place at the Haji Sahid Turangzai in Safi tehsil.
