5 simple ways to keep your mind sharp

Author: Nadia Ahmed Uqaili

Read everything

By everything, I mean literally everything. Read the back of the milk carton and the cereal box in the morning. Read all the billboards on the way to work or school. Read the back of your shampoo bottle. Also, of course read books, magazines and newspapers.

This way your mind will continuously keep absorbing new information and it’ll help to keep it alert at all times, ultimately making it much sharper than it would otherwise be.

Recall each detail of your day at night

Seems like a very effortless task, doesn’t it? It isn’t though. Trying to recall and remember every minuscule detail of your day at the end of the day can actually be quite challenging until you get the hang of it.

On the other hand, it helps your mind to make a habit of hanging on to every single detail of all your experiences and hence, makes it sharper.

Play games and solve puzzles regularly

Games like chess along with crossword puzzles, suduko, and rubik’s cubes all act as stimulants for our minds. Hence, if we make it a point to make any of these a hobby, our mind will be challenged and stimulated everyday, in a fun and exhilarating way and it’ll get sharper in the process as well.

Multitask more often

You don’t need to try to do more than one laborious tasks at the same time because that might cause unnecessary stress.

However, when you have many small and simple tasks to do, try to achieve them at the same time. This will help your mind learn how to focus even when the situation isn’t perfect and filled with distractions and hence, will cause it to become sharper.

Water

Drink water. At any chance you get throughout the day, even if you aren’t thirsty, drink a glass of water. Water is needed in order for humans to stay alive and along with that it has numerous benefits for our body as well. One of these benefits is that it helps keep our mind active. An active mind is always on the road to being a sharper mind.
