Crackdown on billboards on The Mall

The district administration on late Thursday night carried out a massive crackdown on large size advertisement boards on The Mall.

The operation was conducted on the directives of Lahore Deputy Commissioner Lahore Anwarul Haq under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Safdar Virk.

An enforcement team and police of the respective area were also present on the occasion. During the operation, some brawls were observed between traders and the enforcement team.

The deputy commissioner said that most of the signboards and billboards had been removed whereas the remaining ones would be removed soon. He further said that the purpose of the operation was to restore the beauty of The Mall.

Besides, as many as 20 enforcement teams also held operation and removed thousands of election campaign banners, streamers and flexes from different important roads, streets. Most of the advertisement was removed in the area of The Mall, Jail Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg, Canal Road, Upper Mall, Johar Town and its adjacent areas.
