PML-N rejects election results, demands fresh polls

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) while rejecting election 2108 results demanded fresh polls in the country.

Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club (KPC), PML-N central information secretary Senator Mushahidullah Khan said that almost all main political parties had expressed serious concerns over conduct of the general elections.

Mushahidullah Khan said that the ECP announced results with an unprecedented delay and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was given a freehand at polling stations. He also claimed that the polling staff was involved in the polling process. “These were the primary reasons why PML-N lost seats,” he alleged.

The senator further added that the election was being rigged from the get go. “Our polling agents were made hostage and they were not provided Form 45. The media was not allowed to monitor activities inside and outside polling stations either,” he added.

He said that even European Union election process monitoring members were not provided translators. “It felt like the polls were being held under civil martial law administrator,” claimed Mushahidullah Khan.

The PML-N information secretary said that such tactics were endangering democracy and fatal for the integrity of the country. He further alleged that the Result Transmission System (RTS) was deliberately made faulty in order to manipulate election results.

“We would not accept the election results as masses sided with the PML-N and voted for its candidates in great number,” he added.

He told the media that elected party members of National Assembly (NA) would sit on opposition benches. “We would decide the future course of action by consulting Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders,” he shared.

PML-N Sindh information secretary Khawaja Tariq Nazeer, Karachi Division President, Ali Akbar Gujjar and losing candidates Afnanullah Khan of NA-247 and Salman Khan of NA-248 were also present at the press conference.
