Asfandyar demands re-polls across country

Author: Agencies

Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfandyar Wali has demanded re-polling across the country and announced to observe sit-ins in front of all regional headquarters of the Election Commission of Pakistan from July 30 onwards.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he said, “As soon as the polling hours ended at 6pm, our polling agents were forced to leave polling stations before the counting of votes.” He continued, “The Chief Election Commission claims that the elections were transparent but we have videos as evidence that these elections were rigged and the mandate of the people was stolen.”

The manipulation in results of polling stations started after the deadline of 6pm, the ANP leader said, alleging that security personnel were involved in it.

Wali said that his party participated in the elections despite all its reservations because ‘we want smooth transition of the democratic process’. “Pakhtun leadership was defeated to assist Imran Khan in gaining power,” he added.
