Cristiano Ronaldo has been in hot waters for quite some time now because of his tax irregularities from 2011-2014 worth €14.7 mil.

He was accused of using shell companies outside Spain to hide the money he made from image rights. According to the Madrid’s prosecutor, Ronaldo took advantage of Madrid’s new corporate structure, which was created in 2010.

Ronaldo jotted an offer in March of this year which was rejected by the Spanish tax authorities, as they described the meeting with Ronaldo ‘very unsatisfactory’ as the amount offered by Ronaldo was insignificant. He reportedly offered four to five million euros.

But now the Spanish tax agency has agreed to the new terms offered by Ronaldo in which he is agreeing to pay nearly €19 million.

Ronaldo recently left Madrid to join Italian giants Juventus for club’s record signing of almost 100 million Euros.

Ronaldo is not the only star footballer who has been accused of tax fraud. In 2016, Barcelona frontman Lionel Messi also received a suspended 21-month jail sentence after being found guilty of defrauding 41 million euros.
