ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has alleged that the general election was ‘stolen’ in order to pave way for the victory of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

“Despite worst performance by PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Imran Khan’s victory in the general election was engineered,” Nawaz claimed while reacting to unofficial results of the elections held a day earlier. “I still stand by my slogan of ‘respect the vote’,” he said, adding, “We want to empower the masses.”

The PML-N chief expressed surprise over PML-N losing from NA-57 and NA-108.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi lost to PTI’s Sadaqat Ali Abbasi from NA-57 Murree, while in another major upset, PML-N’s Abid Sher Ali lost to PTI’s Farrukh Habib from NA-108 Faisalabad.

Nawaz said that future course of action will be formulated by the party.

Meanwhile, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday met with his elder brother Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz at Adiala Jail.During the meeting, post-election situation came under discussion besides other issues concerning the party. They also discussed the possibility of formation of government in Punjab province in collaboration with independent winners and others parties.
