FO asks Indian media to focus on internal matters

The Foreign Office (FO) on Thursday decried uproar in the Indian media over Pakistan’s general elections, and urged the neighbouring country to focus on its internal affairs.

In a statement issued to the media, the FO spokesperson said that elections were a part of the democratic process in the country, and urged the Indian media to focus on internal matters instead of stirring hysteria over Pakistani elections.

In recent reports run by Indian TV channels and news websites, the victory of the Imran Khan led Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) was seen to be harmful for bilateral ties of the two countries. These reports maintained that the PM hopeful had taken anti-India positions in his election campaign, adding that his victory would pose problems for peace in the region.
