Busy day for culture minister reviewing security in all areas

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Information & Culture Ahmed Waqas Riaz visited different areas on polling day and reviewed election arrangement there.

He talked electoral staff, polling agents and voters and enquired about the facilities provided to them. The information & culture minister went to Garden Town, Cantonment, Gari Shahu, Nolakha Chowk and other adjacent areas.

Talking to media, Ahmed Waqas Riaz said that with the blessing of Allah Almighty, the caretaker government has succeeded in holding free, fair and impartial elections and including law and order all possible help was provided. He said that due to certain doubts it was quite hard to hold these elections in such a congenial atmosphere and all credit goes to Punjab chief minister and his team.

The information & culture minister also appreciated the media’s role in reporting the situation through their cameras. Ahmed Waqas expressed hope that the performance of caretaker set up would also be appreciated even after the holding of general elections.

July 25 is a historic day when the Pakistani nation has set a democratic future through its vote.

It is worth mentioning that the Punjab government has fulfilled the promise of free, fair and transparent elections in a peaceful manner.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Provincial Minister for Labour & Human Resources Mian Nauman Kabir has said that caretaker government in Punjab has fulfilled its promise of holding peaceful elections. He said that the caretaker provincial government has ensured well organised arrangements with the help of district administration, police and law enforcement agencies and all political parties were constrained to follow the code of conduct set by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

He said the people will get fruits of continuation of democratic process due to continuous efforts and hard work of the caretaker government and the credit of holding today’s transparent elections goes to provincial departments, police and other institutions whose officers and other staff have ensured the completion of electoral process with hard work and courage under the leadership of Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Dr Hassan Askari.
