Political stability is needed

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Now that the elections are over and done with, one strongly hopes that the political instability that has rocked this unfortunate country for the past three or four years will finally come to an end. However, this may be wishful thinking. Post-election controversies and allegations of rigging are as much a part of Pakistan’s democratic culture as voting itself. The 1990’s are full of examples that can prove this to be true.

These elections are unique though, because they were already marred by allegations of pre-poll rigging and whispers of ladlas ascending the throne.

Regardless, we the citizens of Pakistan wish for all this to end so we can finally have five years of peace.

Going forward, I strongly hope that all parties will concentrate on serving the people instead of mudslinging, and all state institutions will stay in their Constitutional bounds.

Political chaos slows down foreign investment, and distracts from the issues that actually concern the public.
