The PID has established similar media centres at its Regional Information Offices and Election Commission of Pakistan headquarters, which will remain open round-the-clock for conveying verified results promptly to the media outlets.
The media centres are well equipped with Internet, WiFi facility, fax, telephone connections and light emitting diode televisions for the facilitation of media during the general elections in Islamabad as well as its regional offices.
The media centres will become functional from today (Wednesday) and remain operative until all results are announced.
The minister visited different sections of the media centre and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the PID for the coverage of elections.
He said the facility would ensure dissemination of information and help ensure transparency.
Earlier, Principal Information Officer Shafqat Jalil briefed the minister in detail about the working and functioning of media centres established at PID Islamabad and PID regional offices in Karachi, Hyderabad, Multan, Lahore, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan and Quetta.
