SANGHAR: National and Sindh Assembly candidates of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) from Sanghar district accused that deployment of volunteers on the women polling station on July 25 was part of ‘planned rigging’.

Volunteers were handed over bogus ballot papers with stamps on PPP candidates. For this purpose, million of rupees were distributed among them, it was claimed.

While speaking to press conference at district headquarters, GDA PS-43 candidate Jam Zulfiqar said that administration did not take GDA into confidence while taking the decision regarding the decision of deployment of volunteers.

“I am bringing this in the knowledge of all stakeholders. Volunteers were handed over bogus ballot papers with stamp on Pakistan Peoples’ Party candidates. Millions were distributed among the volunteers in all constituencies in the past 48 hours. This is planned rigging,” he alleged.

The GDA leader said that there was no need of volunteers in presence of the Pakistan Army, Rangers and other law enforcers. “Had there been no deployment of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), we would have supported it,” Jam added.

Jam said that around 1000 representatives of NGOs and lady health workers were planned to be deployed as volunteers. “We have also heard that volunteers would also be deployed at men’s polling stations,” he added.

He said although there were closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed in 477 polling stations but equal numbers of polling station don’t have that facility. Also CCTV cameras were installed inside polling stations but these volunteers will be deployed outside.

When asked whether GDA will accept the result or not if the volunteers are not removed, Jam said that a final decision will be made by party leadership.

Party candidates Haji Khuda Bux Rajar, Ali Ghulam Nizamani and Waryam Faqqeer also attended the press conference.
