The Supreme Court allowed on Monday Mir Badshah Qaisrani to contest the elections from NA-189 as an independent candidate.

The court said that in case Qaisrani wins the elections, the notification declaring him winner will be subject to the court’s decision.

Justice Azmat Saeed said the court will examine the case in detail after the elections. “We cannot rush in deciding legal points,” he added. In June 2013, Qaisrani was jailed for two years and fined Rs 5,000 for holding a fake degree. Qaisrani is running as an independent candidate from Dera Ghazi Khan after returning a PML-N ticket.
