Get a reasonable amount of sleep

A person with highly irregular sleep patterns or a habit of sleeping less than 6-7 hours a night has a high risk of developing cardiovascular disease, regardless of their age or gender. This is because the right amount of sleep regulates many important biological processes like blood pressure.

Increase your daily physical activity

Any type of physical activity in reasonable amounts is great for your heart’s health. This is because when you move around, it helps your heart to pump blood more efficiently and decreases the risk of clotting as well. For the same reasons, sitting for too long at a time is also not advised.

Be picky about what you eat

No need to cut out bad fats, carbohydrates and other items from your diet completely but instead, just moderate and keep a check on how much of certain foods, like salt and sugar, you’re consuming. Don’t deprive yourself of anything, yet don’t overdose on food items either, that bring you pleasure in the short run but could do much more harm in the long run.

Meditate in your own unique way

When one thinks of the term meditation, a very formal set up of relaxation comes to mind. That, however, doesn’t need to be the case if one wants to meditate. Meditation can be any activity that refreshes one’s body thoroughly, like having a laugh with your friends or doing an activity that you’re passionate about. Any such activities are sure to keep your heart healthy.

Drink at least 8 glasses water a day

Researchers have found water to help in blood dilution, which lessens the chance of blood clotting. This in turn decreases chances of fatal heart attacks by about 54%.
