Minorities in Hyderabad won’t cast votes until provided security

Author: Sanjay Mathrani

There is no doubt that the election means to elect representatives who represent the people of their constituencies. This means that the voters do vote keeping in view that the contesting candidate will resolve their issues and will serve them diligently. Moreover, the participation in the election process by the individuals is necessary to elect the candidate of their choice.  This, ultimately, strengthens the democracy and democratic norms of the society.

People belonging to religious minority are considered as marginalized class in our society. In Pakistan total minority voters are 27, 77,000 . Among these  the large number of voters  belong to Hindu community haling from Sindh.

Similarly,  majority of the Hindu people hailing from different areas of Sindh including Tharparkar, Umarkot, Sanghar, Thano Bola Khan, Mirpurkhas, Diplo and from various other cities and villages, have settled themselves in urban areas for better business , education ,  and health opportunities among other facilities of a luxury life .Unfortunately , minority that live hand to mouth faces the troubles of basic necessities of life in rural areas of Hyderabad.  But casting vote is considered as the security threat to both rural and urban population of minority in Hyderabad.

When approached to Ashothama, an Human Rights  Activist, he said that  in developing  countries “vote” means power and influence for public to build pressure to the government for their rights, but the scenario of  minority of Hyderabad looks otherwise. H e further said that their endless contribution and dedication in the honor of love with their land is not supporting to give protection to their teenage children, and they suffer many hardships and other issues in the area.

He mentioned that couple of days ago he along with his team arranged delegation with the contesting candidates who are contesting the election  under the umbrella of  different s political parties. He regretted that  no candidate  has manifesto to improve the lives of the minority of their constituencies.

Dr Sagar Kumar Andani expressed that he from Islamkot ( Thar), he is willing to caste the vote but rather to support old faces, it will be better to give a chance to new faces.

He added that Hindus  belongs to middle and lower social class and leaders belong to upper group and they  are unaware of basic problems of people

Kiran Jevraj, a youth activist, emphasized that her native village is Kantio Thar but she is not going to Thar to caste the vote because she is hopeless from such puppets, which are even stranger from the importance of their vote and its value.

Haresh Kumar, a businessman in Hirabad, shared that politicians should  work as a bridge in society but  they discriminate on the basis of color and creed.,

lets plan to tie a thread of strong  relation for the prosperity of this land by vote but refuse to vote for old imposed politicians.
