PP-117: close contest expected between PML-N, PTI

Author: Our Correspondent

FAISALABAD: The politically fertile Faisalabad district is all set to witness a tough electoral battle between political heavyweights of mainstream parties on provincial constituencies in the general elections. As only a couple of days are left in the general elections, contesting candidates have accelerated their campaign in the city. As far as PP-117 constituency is concerned, a tough battle is expected between Hamid Rasheed of PML-N and Dr Hasan Masood Malik of PTI. Dr Hasan Masood, a close aide of Imran Khan, made his political debut some three years back when he was elected chairman of UC-18 in local government elections on PTI’s ticket. He was the only candidate who defeated then sitting minister Rana Afzal’s candidate in his home town.

Dr Hasan is a PhD doctor and a respected businessman in the city. Talking to Daily Times, he said that he had seen how democracies had changed the lives of their people in the western world. He said if elected to power, he would strive hard to serve his countrymen and transform their lives.
