Anti-democratic forces targeting political leaders: COAS

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Sunday said that anti-democratic forces were targeting political leaders, but the country’s armed forces will not let the sacrifices of innocent citizens go waste.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Gen Bajwa expressed deep grief and sorrow over martyrdom of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Ikramullah Gandapur, who was martyred in a suicide attack earlier today.

Earlier today, PTI candidate Ikramullah Gandapur was martyred after a suicide bomber targeted his vehicle in DI Khan’s Kalachi tehsil. Gandapur and his driver were rushed to the hospital but succumbed to wounds hours later.

“Today, we lost another patriot. Ikramullah Gandapur was targeted by anti-democratic forces who have been targeting politicians across the country, but the armed forces are determined to establish and maintain peace and wipe out the threats,” COAS said.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (r) Sardar Raza Khan also expressed sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of the PTI leader.

PPP Chairman also condemned the suicide attack on the PTI candidate and announced that special prayers will be held for the deceased during PPP’s campaign in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
