Paramedics were called to assess the condition of the incarcerated son-in-law of former premier Nawaz Sharif after he reportedly fell ill on Saturday.

Capt (r) Safdar fell ill during a meeting with his legal team, sources said. According to prison officials, doctors from the District Headquarters Hospital Rawalpindi were called to assess his condition. He will not be shifted to a hospital unless doctors advise further medical attention.

Safdar was shifted to Central Jail Rawalpindi on July 9 after he was found guilty by an accountability court in the Avenfield case along with his father-in-law Nawaz Sharif and wife Maryam Nawaz.

It was reported Nawaz also met his legal team on Saturday after an earlier meeting on Thursday was cancelled by jail authorities.

Reports also suggested that Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Nawaz, was likely to be shifted to Sihala rest house amid security reasons.
