DC impoRs 370,000 fine on 19 candidates for violating code of conduct

GUJRANWALA: The Gujranwala deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Shoaib Tariq Warriach on Saturday fined 19 candidates of various political parties for violating electoral code of conduct. Reportedly, the election monitoring teams informed the DC about several violations, who imposed Rs 370,000 fine in total on 19 candidates, and warned them to be careful in future.

Two motorists die, another saved in accident

At least two motorists lost their lives on Saturday in a road accident at Dogranwala in Gujranwala. Reportedly, Noman, along with Tariq and Tahir, was travelling on a motorcycle when a speedy truck crushed them to death on the spot. The deceased’s bodies were shifted to hospital for autopsy while Tahir sustained injuries, and was rushed to DHQ Hospital.

CIA arrests six kidnappers, rescues one person

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on Saturday arrested six suspects for their alleged involvement in a kidnap case and seized Rs 500,000 in cash, two stolen cars and six pistols from their possession.

Reportedly, a trader namely Khurram, a resident of Sohdra, was kidnapped by a few armed men four days ago.

The abductors demanded ransom of Rs 2 million from his family. The city police officer directed CIA officers to investigation into the incident. Resultantly, the accused including Haider Ali, Daud, Usman, Aqib, Fazal and Nadeem Abbas were arrested during a raid.

Gujranwala BISE announces matric results

The Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) on Saturday announced the result of the annual secondary school certificate examination. Of total 210,970 candidates, 166,755 have been declared successful with a pass percentage of 79.04.
