LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah Thursday sought replies from the federal and Punjab governments about the policy on media advertisements.
The court ordered both the central and the provincial government to submit replies from within two weeks. Inam Akbar, a private advertisement agency’s head, had moved the petition. Counsel for petitioner Saad Rasool alleged that the government had been running media campaign without any uniform policy. He said that both the federal and provincial governments had been distributing ads among media houses on the basis of personal liking and disliking. He alleged that the public money had been misused for personal promotions of few individuals in name of government advertisements. He further alleged that the governments had been influencing editorial policies of media houses against huge disbursement of advertisements.
He said that the policy of both the government was discriminatory. He requested the court to summon the ten-year record of advertisements given to print and electronic media and direct the governments to device a uniform policy in this regard.
