Police arrest gang of dacoits, recover items worth Rs 1m, drugs and liquor

Islamabad police have busted a gang of dacoits and also arrested 12 other outlaws besides recovering looted items worth more than a million, narcotics and liquor from them, a police spokesman said on Friday.

He said that Senior Superintendent Police Operations Najeebur Rahman Bugvi assigned the task to Superintendent Police Investigation Zubair Ahmed Sheikh to ensure arrest of those involved in dacoity at a franchise of telecom company Orakzai Company in Koral area on May 19, 2018.

He constituted a team under the supervision of CIA Deputy Superintendent Police Munawar Ali Mahar which included Additional Sub Inspector Zulfiqar Ali and others. This team worked hard and succeeded to arrest four persons involved in looting people at gun point.

They have been identified as Tayyab s/o Basharat Hussain, resident of Bahander Islamabad, Daud Shabbir s/o Muhammad Shabbir resident of Rawat Islamabad, Ahsan Jahangir s/o Jahangir resident of Rawat Islamabad and Zohaib Arashad s/o Arshad Mehmood resident of Rawat Islamabad.

The police also recovered cash worth Rs 1,039,500, a bike and weapons from them. During the preliminary investigation, they confessed to strike at different areas and further investigation is underway from them.

Sub-Inspector Muhammad Nawaz arrested Hassan Akbar and recovered 1,150 gramme hashish and 100 gramme ice from them. Inspector Irshad Ali from CIA police arrested Asad for having 400 gramme hashish while Sub Inspector Asif Hussain nabbed Aaqib Mehmud in possession of 900 gramme hashish.

Sub-Inspector Muhammad Hanif from Shalimar police arrested Zaheer Abbas for possessing a 30 bore pistol. ASI Muhammad Malik from Bani Gala police station arrested nabbed Ramzan for decanting gas in cylinder illegally. Sub-Inspector Muhammad Akram arrested Faraqat for possessing 30 bore pistol.

Sub-Inspector Sultan Mehmood and ASI Atta Muhammad from Sabzi Mandi police station arrested three accused Munawar, Lal Gul and recovered one 30 bore pistol each from them.

Cases have been registered against these nabbed persons and further investigation is underway from them.

SSP Islamabad Najeebur Rahman Bugvi has appreciated this performance and directed for high vigilance in the city.
