One dead as heavy rains trigger flash flood in Torkham

KHYBER: Torrential rains triggered flash flood in Torkham, claiming the life of an Afghan national on Friday

The Torkham administration official said that three cement-loaded trucks -stationed at Torkham parking lot – were washed away after heavy rains battered the area. Gul Jai, the conductor of a truck, was confirmed dead in flash flood. Moreover, the torrential rains battered Michni-Torkham Road at Shaheed Mor point, suspending the traffic to and from Torkham border.

The rains also damaged private properties in Torkham and Landi Kotal after flood water entered various offices of clearing agents and damaged valuables. Boundary walls and roofs of several building also caved in.
