Designers wrap International Design Conference

KARACHI: “Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning”, said the Executive Director of Indus Valley School, Samina Raees Khan while delivering her concluding speech at IVS lawn on Thursday.

While talking to the International Design Conference which was organized by Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVS) in collaboration with Kennesaw State University (KSU), Georgia and USA from 20 to 23 February, she said that IVS has achieved another milestone to get close to its vision 2025 by which aspire IVS to become one of the leading art and design institute in research and innovation

Professor Emeritus Shehnaz Ismail said that the conference has not only fulfilled the mission to reach out to city, country and rest of the world but it also provided us an amazing opportunity of learning and sharing with the experienced and energetic young artists and designers and their observation and reflection of a fresh perspective of hope for future. “The conference has been a celebration of human imagination”, she said.

Grace W. Shelton said that IVS and KSU have been hosting visits of faculty staff and students for the last three years that includes some sessions for the conference as well. It is fascinating to see the range of paper topics from Urban design to Truck Art, cultural preservation to innovation. “The issues penciled in the artistic world are reflection to the global development of art and design”, she said.

Grace W. Shelton said that Indus valley is the most beautiful College of Pakistan, US Department of State is so proud to be the sponsor of this conference.

“I encourage the maintaining of connections made here to continue progress in the same areas”, she concluded.

The conference critically examined each of the themes of this International Conference by delivering presentations and exhibitions on various areas including historical back ground of Design Evolution (Education and Practice) in architecture, communication and advertising, new media, film, graphic design, illustration, interior design, textile and fashion design, and other related fields in South Asian and Western Cultural and cross cultural contexts.
