Imran terms it ‘unfortunate’ for Pakistan to have a hung parliament

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has reiterated that his party would prefer sitting on opposition benches instead of making coalition government with Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) or Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

“In contemporary circumstances, it would be unfortunate for Pakistan if a hung parliament emerges in result of the general elections,” Imran asserted in an interview on Friday.

Responding to a question regarding the possibility of a coalition government after the elections, Imran said Pakistan needs a strong government which can make tough decisions to deal with challenges the country is facing.

“If PTI would have to make alliance with PPP and PML-N to form government, it would prefer sitting on opposition benches as leaders of the both parties are involved in corruption from head to toe” said the PTI chief.

The general elections are scheduled to be held on July 25.
