Lipstick under my burkha’ is an unacceptable movie: CBFC

‘Lipstick under my burkha’ has been the target of severe criticism. Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) denied certifying the movie for not being ‘lady orientated’ and containing ‘abusive words’.

CBFC member Mamta Kale supported board’s action declaring that the content of the movie itself is the crucial issue.

“The kind of content and the abusive language they have put in the movie is unacceptable and they should not have done this. Any movie that comes to CBFC, the board sees it critically. The whole team sits together and analyses the movie and then a decision is taken,” Kale stated.

She pointed out that the movie isn’t about women empowerment and that filmmakers should be careful enough not to picturize controversial issues.
“Being a woman, you can talk about your sexual rights but you have to keep one thing in mind as to how you are showing that issue. Can families go together to watch such a movie? No, they cannot,” she further added.

Kale has expressed that various section of the society will never be ready to accept the content of the movie and that filmmakers should avoid highlighting such content in their movies.
