District Judge takes notice of death of two minor Gestro patients in Shikarpur

SHIKARPUR:  The District and Session Judge Shikarpur, Suhail Muhammad Laghari, took notice of death of two minor children due to Gastro disease at village Qadir Bakhsh Pahore, tehsil of Khanpur, district Shikarpur on Thursday.

The judge visited the RBUT Civil Hospital Shikarpur and expressed his anger over mixing Oral Re-hydration Salt (ORS) into tank of drinking water and  ordered to suspend the seven clerks and an office superintendent..

During the visit of the  DSJ, the parents of children  complained that the number of Gastro patients has been increasing significantly due to which several other children are being admitted in the hospital.

He ordered the District Health Officer (DHO) Health Dr Zulfkar Abro to send medical teams to the affected villages and provide them medical facility at their door steps and directed the Civil Judge Khanpur to visit the village for  the larger interests of the patients.

He expressed his anger when he came to know that ORS has been mixed in drinking water of tank and lack of cleanliness at Peads ward and issued order to relieve office superintendent (OS) Fatah Muhammad Abro, and seven clerks including Hussain Bakhsh Jatoi, Ali Sher Marfani, Ubedullah Mahar, Salman Soomro, Hidayat Ali Shah, Muhammad Aslam and Ubedullah Kakepoto over reaching late on their duty.

Besides, he also visited medicine store and expressed his anger when he found that medicines were being given without putting stamp “not for sale” on medicines which is sheer violation of apex court orders and said that there is a good quantity of medicines, but medicines even cotton is not available at wards.

When he came across the number of open electric wires at the  Civil Hospital he expressed his anger and asked about contractor Inder Jeet Lal and summoned him along with necessary documents.

Dr Kazi Khursheed, Medical Superintend RBUT Civil Hospital Shikarpur, during his briefing said that substandard electric work has been done by contractor for example there are 60 air conditions, but even electric switchboard for Air Conditions (AC) is still not installed, the MS complained.

Sarfraz Memon, RMO, Jahangir Chandio, monitoring officer, Ashique Jatoi, Jahanzaib Mallah and Halar Rajar has also revealed that substandard construction work had also been done by contractor despite that out and out payment had been released in favour of contractor.

Suhail Muhammad Laghari said that he would send his ins and outs report to apex court and necessary action would be taken against involved persons in negligence.

Earlier  this week,  two minor children identified as Baby Kalsoom, of 10 months age, and Baby Amina, aged 4 months, died  due to Gastro disease at village Qadir Bakhsh Pahore.
