Provision of basic facilities at polling stations demanded

In a recent development regarding preparation of General Elections 2018, Education Department Punjab has ordered the chief executive officers of educational district authorities to arrange basic facilities including temporary boundary walls and generators where both facilities are not available.

According to a notification, letter no DD, issued by SED Monitoring Director and Election Commission of Pakistan Focal Person Rana Abdul Qayyum Khan, all CEOs of DEAs have been addressed. The letter further stated, “Reference Local Govt and CD Deptt’s letter No SO, KG, 6-2/2-16 dated 16-07-2018 on the subject. It is reiterated that the respective CEO, DEA shall ensure provision of Kanats and generator at all polling stations established in schools where no boundary wall and facility of electricity is available for smooth conduct of General Elections 2018.”
