Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has finally proved why he is referred as the Indian Film Industry’s next superstar. His film ‘Sanju,’ a biopic on controversial Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, has become the sixth biggest hit at the Indian domestic box office till date.

As per film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Sanju earned Rs 316.64 crore till July 15. It’s slightly behind Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan that has a gross earning if Rs 320.34 crore till date. The film, which is still earning money, is expected to break Salman’s record in the coming days. The other films on this list are ‘Baahubali 2,’ ‘Dangal,’ ‘PK’ and ‘Tiger Zinda Hai.’

At its current pace, ‘Sanju’ is likely to overtake ‘PK’ (Rs 340.80 cr) and become the number 3 on this list. ‘Baahubali 2’ (Rs 510.98 cr) and ‘Dangal’ (Rs 387.38 cr) will be difficult to beat.

After making Rs 34.75 crore on its opening day, ‘Sanju’ became the highest grosser of 2018 as well as of Ranbir’s and director Rajkumar Hirani’s careers. The film went on to cross the Rs 100-crore mark in the first weekend itself.

Ranbir is receiving praise from Bollywood celebrities for his performance in Sanju. His rumoured girlfriend Alia Bhatt is also among them. At a media interaction, she said, “I really liked it. It is a fantastic, fabulous and an outstanding film. I think in my top 10 best film list, ‘Sanju’ is high up there. Ranbir is outstanding in it. Vicky Kaushal and Paresh ji (Rawal) also did a fantastic job. Everyone including Anushka (Sharma) and Sonam (Kapoor) did really good job. It’s a full package.”
