Mirpur khas: Patients of children suffering with pollen allergies are cautioned to take precautionary measures for the upcoming pollen season likely to start from the middle of March. The season generally starts in March in Mirpurkhas District every year whereas the pollen concentration increases gradually around mid of March. An official said that if there was no rain for the next couple of weeks, the pollen season might start from March 10 but in case of rains it would start around March 15. Currently the pollen count is less than 100 m3 and usually highly sensitive patients pollen allergy symptoms varies from 100 to 1000 m3 but after crossing the figure of 1500 m3, high pollen allergy starts normally. Allergy season subsides from the last week of April or may be extended till May. Last year was the longest pollen season of the last 10 years, he further informed, adding that this year the season’s length depended on the number of plants and their growth affecting pollen count in the air.
