Missing ‘Hearse’ creates panic across metropolis

KARACHI: Panic has gripped entire the metropolis on suspicion of a possible terror attack after unidentified criminals stole a funeral bus of a welfare organization on Friday.

In the unexpected incident, some unknown criminals stole the funeral bus of Amini Foundation from the Liaquatabad area within the limits of Super Market Police Station which caused a panic, particularly among the law enforcers.

But interestingly, before the law enforcers could trace and arrest the suspects involved in the theft of the bus, the thieves anonymously left the bus in the SITE area a few hours after it was stolen.

Station House Officer (SHO) Ejaz Lodhi informed the media that the bus was parked near the residence of one of the officials of the foundation in Liaquatabad area, adding that the official informed the police after he did not find a bus parked near his residence early in the morning.

He further stated that, it was the first such incident to have occurred, the city has also seen snatching and stealing of the ambulances and the government vehicles.

“As the country is facing a new wave of terrorism, we had feared that this bus could have been used in the terror activity and we could not have avoided it in such circumstances,” said the officer.

“But luckily, it did not happen which we had feared.” the officer added that different police teams were also formed to recover the bus and arrest the suspects behind the incident, however, the thieves left the vehicle in the SITE area.

The officer said they were investigating the case to ascertain the actual motive behind stealing it while the police was also trying to arrest the suspects behind the incident.

A case has been registered against unidentified persons and further investigation is underway.
