Protest against stoppage of health allowance

BARA KAHU: Non gazetted employees of Grade 1 to 15 from the DHO Office and District Family Health Office (DFHO) Islamabad have voiced a strong protest over the stoppage of payment of health allowance to them. The Ministry of CADD has stopped the payment of health allowance through a notification. This allowance is paid to lower grade employees including lady health workers, male health workers and vaccinators who perform the duties in Polio and Anti Dengue campaigns. The health department’s low cadre employees working in Bara Kahu said that they worked in rural and remote areas to provide medical facilities to the masses but the ministry of CADD had deprived them of health allowance. This move was unfair and tyrannical which had been taken by a democratic government, they said. “We appeal to the Minister of CADD, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, to restore the allowance forthwith to mitigate our financial woes,” they said.

Polio: An Anti-Polio campaign will kick off from March 6 in Islamabad. During the Anti-Polio drive over 306000 children below 5 years of age will be administered Polio drops and 1118 teams have been set up on this count. The campaign will conclude on March 9. Polio drops will be administered to over 158000 children in the rural areas of the federal capital and 477 teams including 422 mobile, 32 fixed and 18 transit teams have been set up to discharge this duty. The CDA health services directorate has set the target of administering polio drops to 148092 children.
