KARACHI: Karachi police have registered a case against the management of Karachi’s Askari Park following the tragic crash of a ride on July 15.

The initial police report states that the ride’s shaft broke and thereby the ride dismantled. However, the amusement park’s contractor argues that this tragedy is all part of a conspiracy against them and that the ride’s bolts were loosened on purpose. His statement has been recorded in the Commissioner House.

The park’s management has said that the ride was bought from China and the Chinese experts along with Pakistan Engineering Council will aid in the investigation with their respective insights. The amusement park’s management has said that they offered condolences to deceased 14-year-old Kashaf’s parents and her parents have withdrawn the case against the contractors on account of the fact that regardless of whatever they do Kashaf is gone.

However, the PIB police, under sub-inspector Aslam Jamal has officially filed a case against Askari Amusement park charging them with criminal negligence which led to the eventual death of 14-year-old Kashaf and left dozens injured. PIB police argue that the park’s criminal negligence encompasses the poor construction of the ride and even worse maintenance.

However, no individual has been named in the official case filed against the Park.
