Raza Bashir elected vice chair of CPR Bureau

Islamabad: Raza Bashir Tarar, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations Environment Programme, has been unanimously re-elected the vice chair of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) Bureau from the Asia Pacific Group for the period of 2017-2019. According to a press release, the decision was taken at the 139th meeting of the CPR held in Nairobi. Pakistan’s Mission in Nairobi is accredited as permanent mission to the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). Ambassador Tarar also currently holds the chair of the G77 and China, Nairobi Chapter. “The election is a manifestation of the trust reposed in Pakistan by the members of the Asia Pacific Group and reflects Pakistan’s commitment to environmental issues,” the press release stated.
