ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Senator Pervaiz Rasheed stated on Monday that former premier Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Caption (r) Safdar should be given the same relaxation as former President Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur.

The senator while talking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) remarked, “The court had earlier observed that no candidate should be barred from contesting the polls and it was the base of granting relief to Zardari and Faryal.”

The PML-N leader further said that Nawaz, Maryam, Safdar and Qamar-ul-Islam Raja should be granted the same relaxation.

Moreover, Maryam’s counsel Amjad Pervaiz told the media that the Accountability Court’s (AC) verdict of Avenfield was not based on law and it should be void to keep the justice.

The counsel further stated, “Our case is based on merit and we hope for some relief as well.”

In the light of Avenfield verdict Nawaz, Maryam, and Safdar are sentenced to 10, 7, and 1 years imprisonment respectively.

However, while highlighting the legal flaws in Avendield verdict, they have filed a petition and sought for bail.

On the other hand, the Supreme Court (SC) on July 12 directed the FIA not to summon Zardari and Faryal, in the fake bank account case, till the polls are over.
