DADU: The Dadu deputy commissioner (DC) Tariq Manzoor Chandio on Sunday issued notices to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate for NA-235 Rafiq Ahmed Jamali and independent candidate Sardar Timor Khan Panhwar for violating the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) code of conduct including public display of weapons and holding rallies without permission.

While talking to Daily Times, DC Chandio informed that show cause notices were issued to Jamali and Panhwar under Election Commission Act 2017.

Villagers storm caravan of PPP candidate

The caravan of PPP candidate for NA-235 and district president Rafiq Ahmed Jamali on Sunday came under heavy firing at Malooja Panhwar village of Dadu district.

Reportedly, five PPP activists sustained injuries while windows of several vehicles were broken as stone-pelters from the village stormed the vehicles with stones and bricks.

Consequently, the area police arrived on the spot to prevent the situation deteriorating further.

Meanwhile, Jamali said that the attack was pre-planned, and alleged that a suspect was instructing villagers to attack his caravan for disrupting his election campaign.

Moreover, the PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari strongly condemned the attack.

According to the senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Dadu Tanvir Ahmed Tunio, Khudabad police lodged an FIR against 14 suspects while further investigation is underway.
