Targeting minorities

Author: Daily Times

Sir: An active campaign is being run against the Ahmadi community in election rallies. The party leaders at the top and the party workers at the bottom are actively participating in this hate campaign.Sheikh Rashid claimed invitingly some months ago that this election would be fought on the basis of Khatm-e-Nabuwat.

There is constant incitement against Ahmadis on social media as well.Five members of this embattled community have been shot at in various cities over the past ten days, three of whom succumbed to their injuries.Every nook and cranny of Pakistan seems to be simmering with anti-Ahmadi sentiment.

In this hostile environment, the appointment of Ahmadi officials, male and female, as election staff is tantamount to inviting violence against them. Innocent people could also be lynched by frenzied mobs on election-day.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan, the chief election commissioner of Pakistan and other concerned authorities are requested to take urgent notice of such unethical rabble rousingpolitics.
