SHIKARPUR: Retired Justice Ameer Hani Muslim, head of one-man Supreme Court-appointee commission on water quality in Sindh, visited oxidation ponds near village Hajano and expressed his anger over the use of substandard material to build embankments of oxidation ponds and rebuked over Public Health Officer namely Agha Naeem and issued orders to rebuild embankments of oxidation ponds.
Ameer Hani also directed Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza would monitor the development work of embankments and all the expenses of development work would be borne by contractor and payment of the contractor would be frozen until DC Shikarpur does not approve quality of development work carried out by contractor Iqbal Shaikh.
He questioned about the cattle colony scheme to which DC Shikarpur replied that the land of cattle colony has been handed over to provincial building department and PC-01 has been sent to the secretary services and works department, but it is still pending.
Water commission chief summoned the secretary works and services on coming Wednesday.
The district and sessions Judge Justice Suhail Muhammad Laghari informed the water commission chief that chairman municipal committee was interfering in several matters, to which the water commission chief ordered to write to the secretary local government under the orders issued by former Sindh Chief Minister to suspend the Chairman MC Shikarpur.
It was also directed that powers of MC Shikarpur and Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) Shikarpur should be transferred to the Deputy Commissioner Shikarpur for six months.
Later, he visited RBUT Civil Hospital Shikarpur and expressed his disappointment over lack of cleanliness and drainage water it was seen floating at several areas of Civil Hospital Shikarpur.
The District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Suhail Laghari, the Deputy Commissioner Shikarpur Syed Hassan Raza and other officers were also accompanied by him.
