‘Lady health workers play a crucial role in healthcare delivery system’

Primary & Secondary Health Secretary Ali Bahadur Qazi has said that the Lady Health Workers (LHWs) and Lady Health Supervisors (LHSs) have a very crucial role in healthcare delivery system and preventive programmes.

Talking to a delegation of LHWs and LHSs which called on him at his office on Friday, Ali Bahadur Qazi said that the government would resolve their service related issues on priority basis. All the concerned senior officers of the department were also present in the meeting.

He said that government had already released funds of more than Rs 3 billion for the payment of arrears of LHWs.

Delegation Head Rukhsana Anwar apprised the health secretary of matters related to their service structures and issues face during the field duties to the LHWs. The meeting was informed that LHWs play a very important role and discharge their duties with restlessly during the various campaigns besides taking care of pregnant woman, immunisation mother and child.

They also participate in anti-polio campaign and awareness campaigns for the better health of infants and their mothers.

Secretary Health Ali Bahadur Qazi observed that LHWs and LHSs are the integral part of healthcare system. He offered that the doors of his office are open to contact for redressel of the problems of officers and officials of the department.

On the issue of promotion of drivers of IRMNCH programme in next grades, the secretary directed the department to adopt the policy of Services &General Admissions Department in this regard.
