KARACHI: Armed forces and rangers can not resolve every issue in the country as involving these prime institutes will eventually exhaust our last line of defence.
Chairman Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Mustafa Kamal said this while talking to media here on Saturday. “The practice of involving Army in everything should be shunned lest we exhaust our last line of defence in the issues supposed to be resolved by other institutions,” he opined.
Armed forces and Rangers are the last line of defence and we are exhausting them by involving them in consecutive operations. He forewarned that who would the government call for help if the counter dread operations fizzled.
Sitting tight for fiasco after every terrorist activity is not an answer for the issue as the APS Peshawar incident gave us hope for eradication of terrorists from the country forever, he said.
“The obligation lies with all the political parties and the federal government as well as the provincial governments to ascertain why a 12-13 years old boy of our nation is ready to carry out a suicide attack. Is an army operation the only solution to bring peace,” he inquired.
“We ought to uncover what inspires or motivates the suicide assailants,” he questioned. “Out of twenty points of National Action Plan (NAP), only two points are related with the Pakistan Army for operations.
Rest of the 18 points was supposed to be resolved by the government, were those 18 points executed by the legislature that it was propelling operations consistently.
He praised the Army for the gains accomplished in tribal areas amid Operation Zarb-e-Azb, However, he stated, even this was not a durable peace.
NAP included FATA reforms, changes in the criminal judicial framework, reforms in the police system, reforms in curriculum of seminaries, reforms in Balochistan and taking Karachi Operation to its logical conclusion. Granting Rangers policing powers in Punjab was praiseworthy, notwithstanding, the question arises here would it bring lasting peace to the province. Rangers were brought in Karachi for six months 25 years ago. Did it yet bring peace in the metropolis? He questioned.
Enemy was still able to operate at his own will wherever they desired across the country.
