Former Netherlands forward Marco Van Basten on Friday said that Brazilian forward Neymar’s playacting and antics on the pitch make people laugh.

Speaking to the media, Van Basten said that playacting is not a good attitude in general and Neymar needs to take a good look at himself.

“You have to try to do your best and be sporting and if you act too much, it is not going to help. That’s a point in which I think he should personally understand his situation,” the ex-Dutch forward said.

He added that it is always nice if there’s some humour in the game and Neymar provides a lot of that to the viewers.

“He get’s knocked around a lot, and sometimes he exaggerates the whole thing, but he is one player who makes the difference,” Van Basten said.

The Brazilian was heavily criticised by football fans from across the world for playacting, with some even calling FIFA to take action against him.
