The brave rescue of a Thai youth soccer team trapped in a cave has inspired Hollywood to bring the‘Thai Cave Rescue’ story to the big screen. Two different films about the incident are already in the works.
Two production companies are competing to turn the extraordinary incident into a movie. Even before the rescue, US studio Pure Flix Entertainment announced that its producers were already interviewing rescue workers.
The other movie will be by Jon Chu, director of “Now You See Me 2” and Ivanhoe Pictures who have previously worked together in “Crazy Rich Asians”.
When John Chu learnt that Pure Flix Entertainment is seeking movie rights he announced his efforts with a tweet.
He said, “I refuse to let Hollywood #whitewashout the Thai Cave rescue story! No way. Not on our watch. That won’t happen or we’ll give them hell. There’s a beautiful story abt human beings saving other human beings. So anyone thinking abt the story better approach it right & respectfully.”
