PFA Training School Programme to train food handlers and workers in 13 districts

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) will soon start a service in order to train the food handlers and workers under the PFA Training School Programme in 13 districts of Punjab.

The purpose to expand this programme was to overcome the food safety issues and to train workers about the hygiene issues, principles of health protection, food preservation and food nutrition.

This was informed in a meeting by PFA Director General Lubna Usman during a briefing to the Provincial Minister for Food Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan and Punjab Food Secretary Shaukat Ali, on their visit to PFA head office on Wednesday.

This programme was started under the umbrella of former PFA director general Noorul Amin Mengal. She informed that training schools are functional in 23 districts of Punjab so far; meanwhile, remaining districts will get schools as soon because, progress on it is near to completion, DG added. PFA is also expanding the circle of food testing laboratories across Punjab.

Further, the PFA DG informed them about the operation strategy of PFA against food business operators, adulterators and unhygienic food points. She said that the authority is bringing improvement in the quality of food every passing day by following the scientific method and doing work day and night in systematically way.

The minister and secretary visited different sections of PFA. On the occasion, all the visitors appreciated the role of PFA for eliminating the menace practice of adulteration. Sardar Tanveer Ilyas said that PFA’s efforts are remarkable in order to bring improvement and ensures the implementation of the provincial food regulations in Punjab. He said that the use of quality food has increased in society due to aware masses about the hygienic and unhygienic food that credit goes to PFA.

At the end, Usman has presented souvenirs to the food minister and the food secretary.
