The PML-N candidate for NA-244 told the media that that former federal government of PML-N gave Rs 600 billion (bn) to former Sindh government for various development schemes in Sindh.
“Sindh government instead of spending money on development schemes did nothing, it did not even account for where the money was spent,” added Miftah Ismail.
During the press conference, the aspirant candidate clarified that no corruption cases had been registered against him in National Accountability Bureau (NAB). “I was a witness in some cases and I have already submitted answers with NAB,” said Miftah.
Furthermore, Miftah told the media that PML-N would restore Pakistan International Airline (PIA) by taking corrective measures to change the national entity into a profitable organization.
“Jamshoro Joint Venture (JJV) has monopoly on Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) price fixation and I seconded NAB’s stand on this matter,” said the former federal finance minister.
The former minister had been summoned by NAB on July 5 at Karachi office for investigation in a case pertaining to JJV.
Miftah Ismail informed the gathering that Shahbaz Sharif was keen to develop Karachi into a modern city. “In this respect if were voted to run the country, PML-N would work for Karachi,” he added.
“Peace and tranquility in Karachi is due to the efforts of former PML-N government as Sindh rulers remained silent on this issue” remarked Miftah Ismail.
Miftah said that, in past, federal government had ignored Karachi. “We would not leave Karachi this time,” he added.
Senior vice president of PML-N’s Sindh chapter, Khawaja Tariq Nazeer, also addressed the media on the occasion.
