During his visit, the Sindh Chief Secretary stressed on the need to arrange all necessary facilities on the sensitive polling stations. He said that generators and UPS should be installed in polling stations. He said that CCTV cameras should also be installed in polling stations before the issued deadline. Azam Suleman Khan said that there was a need to maintain a congenial atmosphere at the established polling stations. “We will make every effort to facilitate the voters,” he added.
Provincial Election Commissioner Muhammad Yousuf Khan Khatak, IGP Sindh Amjad Javed Saleemi, Secretaries of Government of Sindh Haroon Ahmed Khan, Karachi Commissioner Mohammad Saleh Farooqi, Additional IGP Sindh Mushtaq Maher, all six Deputy Commissioners of Karachi and other senior officers accompanied the Sindh Chief Secretary on his visit.
Earlier, National Radio and Telecom Corporation (NRTC) Managing Director Brig Taufeeq Ahmed Managing Directors told the delegation that the training was being imparted to technical staff for operating the CCTV cameras on all 5673 polling stations, all over the province. He said that a total of 20,000 CCTV cameras were being installed across the province. He said that all polling stations would be handed over to the provincial Election Commission by July 22.
Video Conference held
Meanwhile, a video conference amongst the Interior Secretary Yousuf Nasim Khokar and all provincial chief secretaries was held on Wednesday morning.
During the video conference, the Sindh chief secretary presented three security points. These points covered security arrangements being made for the heads of main political parties. He said that there was a need to reduce the number of corner meetings being held and enhance interprovincial coordination and cooperation especially in matters pertaining to interprovincial borders security.
He added that there was a need to streamline intelligence sharing.. The Chief Secretary said that these points, upon materialization, could help to save the country from any untoward situation. During the video conference, the Interior Secretary expressed satisfaction on the election process in all province. He also stressed on the need to establish law and order more efficiently.
