Funeral of Peshawar martyrs held today

PESHAWAR: The Collective funeral prayer of ten martyrs of Peshawar suicide attack was performed today.

Along with Awami National Party (ANP) candidate Barrister Haroon Bilour, on Tuesday, at least 13 people killed in a suicide blast targeting a corner meeting in Yaka Toot area of the provincial capital.

At least 35 other people, including Haroon Bilour’s son Daniyal Bilour, were injured in the attack. Of them, five were said to be in a critical condition at Lady Reading Hospital. The blast occurred as Haroon arrived at the stage to address supporters. He was contesting elections from PK-78 Peshawar.

SSP Operations Javed Iqbal told the media that an FIR was filed and at least 30 to 40 people were arrested after the deadliest incident.

IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) has informed that a JIT comprising of seven officers has formed to investigate the attack.

On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) announced a day of mourning and a day postpone of the election campaign.

PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry criticized the cruel attack.
