ADC vows to implement protective measures ahead of new monsoon spell

GUJRANWALA: The Gujranwala Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr Rabia Riasat on Tuesday pledged to implement all necessary measures in the wake of monsoon season to protect citizens’ lives and properties.

Reportedly, she presided over an emergent meeting of concerned officials to examine a comprehensive plan involving preventive and precautionary measures.

She instructed the officers to ensure that all required machinery, flood warning system and water pumping machines to drain the water were ‘operative and functional’.

Meanwhile, the ADC headquarter Syed Nizarat Shah, assistant commissioners including Hina Arshad, Najeeb Ullah, Ansar Saghir, Virkan Murtaza, Solat Hayyat, emergency department official Muhammad Umer and other officers participated in the meeting.

She also ordered the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) officers to formulate a sustainable strategy to drain rain water effectively from the entire district.

The officers assured that they would adopt constant vigilance to combat any situation of emergency during the season of monsoon.

Motorist dies as ‘speeding’ bus crushed him

A motorist lost his life on Tuesday in a road accident on GT road in Gujranwala.

Reportedly, 45-year-old Anwar was travelling on a motorcycle when a speeding bus crushed him.

He breathed his last while being shifted to a hospital.
