KARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced arrangements for receiving funds for building Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dam under head ‘Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dam Fund’.
All field offices and bank branches across Pakistan will receive donations. Supreme Court of Pakistan instructed for construction of these dams in the country.
Shamsul Hasan, Deputy Governor SBP at a press conference said that initiative of building two dams would go a long way in ensuring development of economy and prosperity of people of Pakistan. Central Bank will extend all support and cooperation in collection of funds for building these dams.
Arrangement had also been made at banks to receive donations for building dams from abroad, he maintained.
He said that accounts have been opened in all SBP (BSC) field offices, commercial banks and microfinance banks. He clarified that donations can be made online through internet/ATM banking or other channels besides cash deposits at counters of banks. He stated that in case of any query or difficulty in making donations, public may contact SBP helpline at UAN 111-727-273.
Deputy Governor announced that officers and staff of SBP and its subsidiaries would donate two-days and one-day salary respectively in Fund. Meanwhile, presidents of National Bank, Habib Bank, United Bank and representatives of ABL and MCB also announced donations on behalf of their banks. These donations are in form of one time contributions and one to two day salary from their staff and matching amount from banks.
