ISLAMABAD: The Taimoor murder case is unfolding as police recorded statement of the girl who was along with the deceased when he breathed his last. Maheen alias Sonia is the eyewitness of the murder committed by a cop at a checkpost. Sonia told Daily Times that on February 3 she was sitting in the car with Taimoor. She added they were accompanied by another friend. Sonia said they went to Sabzi Mandi where they dropped the friend and Taimoor turned the car towards Rawalpindi, where Potohar Hotel was their destination. “The police officials deputed at the check post threw the torch light on our faces. The police man did not stop our car, if he would had been stopped us, Taimoor would had been definitely prevented the vehicle,” she added. She said when they reached near IJP Road police opened fire on them. She said a bullet hit Taimoor on left side of the head and he bathed in his blood. Then she pulled the hand break of the car, which hit the footpath. “At once I could not understand the situation that what had happened with us. The police official after doing the murder had fled the crime scene,” Maheen said She said that Taimoor’s life could be saved if the police had rushed him to a hospital. She said that some passerby took him to the hospital but he succumbed to his injuries. Later the police pressed her to give the statement that the police opened fire after they did not stop. The police also threatened her not to come to Islamabad again or else she would be responsible for dire consequences. She said her father then took her to Lahore. She said that she was living at Bahria Town with her friend. It is also revealed that the police has got the CCTV Footage from the crime scene, but the eyewitness Maheen has rejected the footage by terming it bogus. Cop Samiullah Niazi, who opened fire, is in the Adiala jail on judicial remand from 16 February.
