Earlier, IIUI Board of Trustees in its 13th meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadar, unanimously appointed Dr Ahmad Yousaf Al-Draiweesh as varsity president for a period of four years. He was presented flower bouquets as he approached his office by the university’s vice president, dean, director general, directors and female campus officials.
Later, Dr Al-Draiweesh also cut the cake on the occasion and spoke on the reception. Dr Al-Draiweesh thanked President Mamnoon Hussain, IIUI Pro Chancellor Professor Dr Suleman Abdullah Aba Al-Khail, IIUI Rector Dr Masoom Yasinzai and all the members of the board for his appointment as president and for acknowledging over his previous efforts. He also thanked IIUI academic and administrative fraternity for unprecedented support.
Dr Al-Draiweesh said that his responsibilities have doubled as this remarkable reception means he must have to deliver double.
He stressed upon the officials of the university to put aside differences and be united for the cause of IIUI. He vowed that the university would soon be amongst the leading international educational institutions.
Dr Al-Draiweesh said that the university was a great symbol of Pak-Saudi mutual cooperation and hoped that this cooperation would expand in his new tenure through bilateral linkages and other joint ventures.
Dr Al-Draiweesh said that he would try his best to come up to the expectations of all the members of the board. Teaching community, officers and other relevant officials in the meeting welcomed Dr Al-Draiweesh’s appointment and considered it a good sign for the university. They hoped that his arrival will usher the Islamic University in a new era.
